Perfect Days Out
We could keep you here all year with all that we have to offer. Everyone is different in what they want from their holidays. Sometimes it’s too much fun not to go back a second day to the same place. Sometimes it’s about seeing as much as you possibly can and sometimes its just too hot/cold/relaxing/enjoyable/dry or wet to do or not to do anything!!!
Here are a list of highlights around West Cork that you might want to include on your itinerary. Again remember to check the calendar of events on the website as the community festivals and events in Clonakilty and neighbouring West Cork villages are always worth the effort and may influence your planning.
The Mizen Head is Irelandʼs most southerly point. On a clear day you can nearly see forever. Make sure to visit Crookhaven and Barleycove as you drive out to the Mizen.
Dursey Island is inhabited by a few islanders and they are the lucky ones! Accessed by Irelandʼs only cable car, getting there is an adventure in itself. Setting out on the Ring of Beara a trip to Dursey is worth the effort.
Glengarriff is home to the Bamboo Gardens, The Ewe Experience and the beautiful Garinish Island. Just Beyond Bantry it’s a great day out from Clonakilty
The Sheepʼs Head Way is fantastic for the avid walker and adventurer. A bit off the beaten track the award-winning walks are an excellent way to pass the time. Top of the Rock in Drimoleague is another walking trail that links with the Sheepʼs Head. Enjoy your ‘West Cork Camino’!
Bantry has long been a favourite with visitors and is about an hour from Clonakilty.
There is a thriving market on the first Friday of every month and of course a visit to Bantry house is a must
The West Cork Garden Trail is a highlight of the year and not just for garden enthusiasts. The West Cork micro climate lends itself to beautiful flora and the tireless work of those involved means that this is showcased beautifully. Learn some gardening techniques or simply enjoy the awesome splendour of nature.
If Golf is your passion then Clonakilty has to be your destination! Lisselane, Dunmore, Skibbereen, Bandon, Macroom, Kinsale, Bantry and Glengarriff are all within a short drive.
There are literally not enough days in the week.
Fishing and angling are available in Courtmacsherry, Bandon and Lisselane Estate. Check any restrictions before you go out to catch your dinner.
