Elephant Parade London 2010 is part of an international art event set to inspire millions and inject hundreds of thousands of euros into important conservation projects across Asia. Next summer a herd of 200, brightly painted fibre-glass elephants will invade London in a show billed as the capital’s biggest outdoor art event. The model Asian elephants - each decorated by a different artist or celebrity will set up in streets, parks and squares across the capital. The exhibition is looking for one special elephant to represent Ireland and has chosen the authentically Irish town of Clonakilty to find a winning design. Clonakilty is now calling on budding young artists across Ireland to put pen, pencils and brushes to paper and come up with a design for the Irish elephant. The winning artist will work with established Irish artist, Bill Griffin, to paint their design on to the 1.5 meter high sculpture. Their work will be on public exhibition in London for 3 months. |
