Enterprise Board Profile
The Enterprise Board is a company, limited by guarantee, established by the Government under the Industrial Development Act 1995, to promote and encourage local enterprise development in West Cork. There are 35 County and City Enterprise Boards nationwide. The Boards have an enterprise development function for the small to medium sized business sector employing up to ten employees involved in manufacturing, processing, or internationally traded services within their catchment areas.
The Enterprise Boards are funded by the Irish Government and the EU
Structural Funds under the National Development Plan 2000-2006. Each Enterprise
Board offers a range of business supports to assist you in starting, developing
or expanding your business.
Roles and Activities of the County & City Enterprise
Boards
County & City Enterprise Boards offer a range of business
supports for enterprises employing up to ten employees in their area

- Point of Contact for other Enterprise Development and Government Bodies
- Training for Owner / Managers
- Business and Management Development Programmes
- One to One Business Mentoring
- Financial Assistance Packages
- Enterprise/Workspace Units Advice
- After Care Service
The West Cork Enterprise Board aims to promote the development of micro-enterprise in West Cork by creating an enterprise culture, providing management training and mentoring services for business development and by providing financial assistance in the form of refundable aid and capital grants, employment grants and assistance towards innovative feasibility studies.
Our Catchment area stretches from West of Innishannon & Ballinspittle up to South of Macroom, near Tarelton right through the rest of the county over to the Beara peninsula and encompassing the West Cork towns and villages of: Bandon, Clonakilty, Timoleague, Dunmanway, Drimoleague, Skibbereen, Union Hall, Glandore, Leap, Schull, Goleen, Ballydehob, Durrus, Bantry, Castletownbere and Glengarriff as well as the Islands.
