" Following the long overdue and most welcome road improvements to the N71
at Whites Gates on the N71 Clonakilty / Bandon Road,this Council requests
the NRA / Cork County Council to clarify for us what further upgrading of this
road can we expect to be completed in 2011.”

(a) Motion from Naas Town Council
“That this Town Council immediately write to the Minister for Health and
Children, Mary Harney T.D., urging her to reconsider the site
for the proposed National Children's Hospital .”
(b) Motion from Carrig on Suir Town Council
“That Carrick
on Suir Town Council would request a review of the powers of HIQA (Health
Information and Quality Authority) in the ability of its inspectorate team to
decide the appropriate/inappropriate care needs of people requiring care in
nursing homes and other residential settings and the fact that there is no
place in current nursing home legislation to the right of redress by care
providers following publication of their findings.”

(d) Motion from Bantry Town Council
“That this
Council, writes to the Minister’s for Transport, Environment, Justice and the
Attorney General and their respective departments, to ask that they introduce
legislation as soon as possible which would oblige car owners to apply in
writing to their local Garda Superintendent for a special exemption if they
wished to make modifications to engines or any other mechanical parts of
vehicles, which varies in any way from the original factory settings or
specifications of the vehicle. The
official form would ask the applicant to outline in detail all changes being
proposed and to clearly state the reason(s) for the proposed change(s) to the
vehicle. Furthermore, before such
decisions would be arrived at, the Garda Superintendent would liaise with the
insurance company of the applicant. If
passed, this motion will be forwarded to other local authorities, our JPC, and
the road Safety Authority”.

“That this Council calls on the Government to address the plight of the self-employed,
who now find themselves unemployed, to access welfare assistance most
speedily”.

“That this Council calls on the Government to increase the fuel
allowance”.
