Capital Loans & Subsidy Scheme
Under this scheme, an approved housing body must first of all make a submission to a local authority, such as Clonakilty Town Council, in relation to the scheme that it proposes to undertake. Certain conditions may attach to this approval which is then submitted to the Minister for the Environment and Local Government for sanction. The local authority, when the Minister approves the scheme, advances a loan to the voluntary body for the construction of the housing scheme.
A minimum of 75% of all the dwelling units in a scheme are to be let to households that are eligible for social housing. Rents are decided upon by taking account of a households earnings and circumstances.
Interested parties should be aware that the Tenant Purchase Scheme does not currently apply to houses provided by voluntary housing associations.
