Abandoned Cars

Abandoning a vehicle in a public place is an offence. The Council has an obligation to enforce the law in relation to abandoned cars. Offenders will be issued a written warning and be given 10 days to remove the vehicle. Failing to do so will result in a €125.00 fine or a court prosecution under the Litter Pollution Act 1997.

Cork County Council allows old vehicles into its Landfill Site at Derryconnell, Schull, “free of charge” to facilitate the appropriate disposal. (The Council does not cover the transport costs)
